Groomsmen

Billy Brown

I have known Billy since he was born in 1989 and I was the cool older brother. We had a 7 year age difference but we had many of the same hobbies. Between playing soccer, running track, tennis (where I beat him in the Hilton Head family tournament which is apparently still up for debate), video games, and most recently trying to outdo each other with our tool collections and building things. I have quickly learned that if I “beat” Billy in something that I just need to stop and not let him have a chance to beat me. We have taken many family vacations together and enjoy talking about travel and recommendations of places to visit. Billy is a wealth of information – especially when it comes to technology and building things. I am thankful for all the help he provides with my many projects. Billy likes to think he is our parent’s favorite son, but everyone knows the oldest is the favorite.

Tim Mueller

Tim and I met at North Hills High School during the 9th grade and we have been friends ever since. In our early days we would adventure out around Pittsburgh including to Cafe Victoria on the North Side. The North Side in 2000 is nothing like the North Side in 2023 and I would have never guessed I would be living here back in 2000. We have taken many trips together – visiting England, California, NYC, Vegas, and many more. One trip I will never forget is our trip to Florida. I bought a stick shift Volkswagen on Ebay and needed to drive it back to Pittsburgh. Neither of us knew how to drive a stick, but Tim was up for an adventure and we flew down to Florida and learned how to drive it back to Pennsylvania. I took the nice flat roads in the south and let Tim handle the mountains of West Virginia – he was great at letting the car roll back and then slamming on the gas at every toll booth. Tim is my oldest friend from high school and I look forward to when he visits Pittsburgh.

Brad Morgan

I have known Brad for about 12 years. We met through a mutual friend at Bingham Tavern and we have enjoyed chicken wings together ever since. Brad and I share many very practical and useful hobbies in life – such as playing Call of Duty, going to the bar, buying many unnecessary cool gadgets, and planning trips. We call Brad and his girlfriend, Gina, our official travel buddies. We have taken many trips together to Europe, Aruba, and all over the US. It doesn’t matter what I want to do, Brad rarely says “no”. Sometimes I wish he would – especially when Steph asks him to run a 10k so that I would. He even spent a full day of his vacation hiking to the top of Mt. Liamuiga to witness our engagement first hand.

Ryan Ohl

I met Ryan about 12 years ago through our mutual friend Joni. But it wasn’t until years after, going through TSA en route to Nashville that we learned both of our names were “Ryan Matthew” and the TSA Officer was very confused. A few things I want to point out about Ryan. He probably has the most friends out of anyone I know – I think he knows everyone in Pittsburgh or at most is 2 degrees of separation. He also enjoys being the entertainer, making sure others have a good time by acting as the official DJ, bartender, or game host on the boat or at parties and tailgates. Ryan plays a lot of soccer (and golf) and a few years ago convinced me to join his adult league soccer team saying it was a lot of fun. He failed to tell me they play at 10 pm a night, an hour away, during the winter, and most importantly they never have any substitutes so you have to play the entire game against younger teams with multiple subs. As you can probably guess, I only played that one season. But we still remain teammates in bowling (and kickball), where there’s less running involved.

Mike Hornyak

I met Mike about 10 years ago through Ryan. You also probably know him as “the guy with the boat”. Mike and I share a few similar interests with credit card points, skiing/snowboarding, building things, and all around just having a good time. Early on, Mike taught me how to wakeboard and has taken me out countless times on his boat. We were always excited to get on the water at the start of the season, and a few times went surfing in the cold 50 degree April river water. We probably also set a record for the number of “peel and eat” shrimp we’ve eaten at Red Fins. Mike is an amazing skier and taught Steph how to ski. We have taken a couple of ski trips to Vail and Mike always made it an enjoyable experience by showing us around the mountain and restaurant recommendations.
